FRIENDS who celebrated their birthdays on the same weekend asked friends and family to donate money to Manorlands Hospice instead of buying presents – and raised a magnificent £2,455.
John Hall and Ivor John Lawson, both members of the Craven Masonic Lodge, wanted to support the Sue Ryder Care hospice because of all the support given to their friends and family.
Mr Hall, celebrated his 80th birthday at Gargrave Village Hall, while his friend, Mr Lawson, had his 70th at Skipton Golf Club.
“The main reason for us choosing to support Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice was because we have had many friends and family who have received fantastic care at the hospice and in their homes, and we wanted to support the hospice to ensure they can carry on providing the amazing service,” said Mr Lawson.
Karen Jones, hospice fundraiser said they were very grateful for the support of Mr Lawson and Mr Hall.
“Between them they have raised £2, 455 for Manorlands Hospice which is absolutely amazing. Every year we need to find £2.1million to continue to provide incredible care in our community, so we rely so much on people to raise money. Our sincere thanks go to Mr Hall and Mr Lawson, and of course their family and friends, for thinking of us and helping the Craven community to continue to receive incredible care.”
